The innate or acquired knowledge (e.g., scientific knowledge) by living beings is ultimately a function of this marvelous fine-tuning activity of supreme compassion of the OmniLight.

The obscuration of the understanding, or ignorance, which is removed by such innate or acquired knowledge is also a function of the fine-tuning activity of OmniLight. This ignorance is also lawful or law-governed. As the Indian mystic philosopher Aurobindo (1872 – 1950) put it, there are “laws of ignorance”, or laws governing the onset of ignorance, its entrenchment, consequences, and removal.

The Tamil word “சொரூபம்” (soruppam; Sanskrit: स्वरूप or Svarūpa) in this couplet refers to the essential nature, inherent form, and beauty of form of an object or entity.

This couplet points out the main causes of bondage of the individual soul and the enlightening and emancipatory action of the OmniLight Of Compassion. Ramalingam affirms that enlightenment and emancipation are ultimately the function of the supreme compassion of OmniLight and not the result of any effort by the individual soul. The proper efforts of the individual soul to attain enlightenment and emancipation are only a preparation for the decisive transformative action by the Supreme Light Of Compassion.

This couplet affirms that there is a higher-order type of matter-energy, pure and bright (சுத்த மாமாயை -Suddha Maamayai or Maha Maya), in contrast to the lower-order dark and impure matter-energy at the foundation of our universe.

But even this higher-order, pure and bright matter-energy, obscures the forces and workings of the Supreme Light Of Compassion (அருள் – Arul). Hence, the OmniLight graciously removes even this bond of higher-order matter-energy, presumably obscuring the vision of souls in the higher worlds, and reveals the workings of its Supreme Light of Compassion.

As pointed out in the previous posts, these couplets, in this series on the grand obscuring screens by which the OmniLight has hidden or concealed various realities of its cosmic manifestation and governance, also affirm its gracious removal of these screens to reveal aspects of those realities.

This couplet continues Ramalingam’s remarkable account of the seven colored Cosmic Screens by which the OmniLight conceals the manifold aspects of mundane, supramundane, and divine reality, from the perception or understanding of ego-bound souls.

It affirms that the OmniLight has also consistently concealed with distinctive screens the different states and energies of the essential elements and other constituents of reality and experience. The Tamil term தத்துவம் (Tattuvam; Sanskrit: तत्त्व or Tattva) refers to the essential elements and other constituents of reality and experience. These essential elements and other constituents are usually classified in terms of various categories in Indian metaphysics.

In this context, it should be noted that since the OmniLight has obscured its governance with the first screen, the immense dark and dense screen of primordial matter-energy, the other screens are also not visible to the unenlightened inner eye. Naturally, the realms which these screens hide are also opaque to the unenlightened.

Several of the couplets in this series affirm the reality of other, higher-order kinds of spaces (Tamil: வெளி or Veli). The space in which our universe of impure matter-energy exists is only one kind of lower-order space.

Later couplets affirm that the OmniLight also graciously lifts or sets aside these glorious immense screens, removing their obscuration of the vision of the soul, commensurate with the soul’s effort to liberate itself from the threefold defilement and bondage:

The white screen is the sixth one and hides the “மெய்ப்பதி வெளி“, the Space of Supreme, Absolute Truth-Being, the All-Lord and the Lord of All. The Tamil word “பதி” (Padhi) refers to the OmniLight’s status or mode as the Supreme Being. It is center of the triad of “பதி, பசு, பாசம்” (padhi, pacu, pācam), or God, soul, and the forms of bondage of the soul which obstruct its enlightenment and liberation.

Later couplets affirm that the OmniLight also graciously lifts or sets aside these glorious immense screens, removing their obscuration of the vision of the soul, commensurate with the soul’s effort to liberate itself from the threefold defilement and bondage:
