சுத்தமா மாயைத் தொடர்பறுத் தருளை

அத்தகை காட்டு மருட்பெருஞ் ஜோதி!

Severing

The

Bond

Of

Primordial

Pure

Bright

Matter-Energy,

And

Revealing

The

Awesome

Powers

Of

Indwelling

Divine

Light

Of

Compassion,

OmniLight Supreme Reality!

Notes:

The Arutperunjothi Agaval is Ramalingam’s magnum opus of spiritual enlightenment poetry composed in 798 couplets in 1872. In later posts, I will offer commentaries on these couplets.

This couplet affirms that there is a higher-order type of matter-energy, pure and bright (சுத்த மாமாயை -Suddha Maamayai or Maha Maya), in contrast to the lower-order dark and impure matter-energy at the foundation of our universe.

But even this higher-order, pure and bright matter-energy, obscures the forces and workings of the Supreme Light Of Compassion (அருள் – Arul). Hence, the OmniLight graciously removes even this bond of higher-order matter-energy, presumably obscuring the vision of souls in the higher worlds, and reveals the workings of its Supreme Light of Compassion.

As pointed out in the previous posts, these couplets, in this series on the grand obscuring screens by which the OmniLight has hidden or concealed various realities of its cosmic manifestation and governance, also affirm its gracious removal of these screens to reveal aspects of those realities.
