Notes:
The expression “இதய அம்பு” (Idaya Ambu) refers to the mystic “Heart-Sky” or “Heart-Space”, the inner sky or space of the Anāhata (Sanskrit: अनाहत) or the heart lotus chakra. The word “அம்பு” (ambu), in the context of this couplet, connotes sky or space.
The Arutperunjothi Agaval is Ramalingam’s magnum opus of spiritual enlightenment poetry composed in 798 couplets in 1872.
